Phenology Workshop at Torrey Pines

img_06291On Monday March 30th a group of volunteers joined the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and the San Diego Natural History Museum for a plant identification workshop at Torrey Pines State Reserve. The workshop was part of an ongoing citizen science project designed to increase our understanding of the local impacts of climate change. For the past few weeks, a group of eager volunteers has been observing and recording the timing of plant flowering across San Diego County. The current trends in flowering will be compared to historical data from the San Diego Natural History Museum’s plant collections.
